Reading and writing support that starts with the whole child, looking at what's actually in the way of learning and building awareness and competencies around attention and focus alongside the academic work itself. This isn't a separate ADHD-only program, it's the same reading and writing tutoring I do with every student, adapted to how your child's attention actually works.
I look at the whole child, not just the reading and writing skills in front of me. That means identifying what's actually in the way of learning and building competencies and awareness around attention and the body, including tracking thoughts and noticing the habits that tend to get in the way. I also bring a strong social-emotional focus, with training through SocialThinking.com and a trauma-informed practice, because how a kid feels about themselves matters just as much as the academic skill.
"I remember when I first met Cristie, she got the kids talking and laughing right away which put everyone at ease. Cristie's vibrant personality draws kids to her and the learning just flows easily from there."
"Reading is easy and it's full of games. And I love her laugh."
"Cristie sees the best in him and reaches out to share his wins. She is very intuitive and gentle. I wholeheartedly recommend Cristie."
This is the most common worry I hear, and it's a fair one. If we choose to work online together, I keep sessions short, varied, and interactive, using the same engagement-first techniques I'd use in person. Most kids focus better one-on-one with someone who's genuinely fun to work with than they do in a group setting, whether that's online or in person.
Often, yes. ADHD frequently overlaps with dyslexia and other learning differences. I adapt my approach to whatever combination is actually in front of me, rather than treating it as one single label.
Sessions build in awareness practices around attention and the body alongside the reading and writing work, so a student starts to notice their own patterns and habits. If something isn't working, I change the approach, not the kid.
Not at all. I've worked with a full range, from early readers to teenagers building stronger writing and fluency. The approach adapts, the engagement-first philosophy doesn't change.
